Employee climate action across a global network
At WorkforClimate, we’ve spent the past five years helping employees push for faster, bolder climate action from inside their companies. We’ve trained leaders. Shared playbooks. Backed internal wins. And throughout that time, we have learnt that employee-led change works.
So when the opportunity arose to become a founding member of a new coalition of groups to scale that impact, we jumped at the chance.
We’re proud to announce the launch of the Employee Climate Action Network (ECAN), a global mutual aid network that connects, supports and celebrates employees taking climate action at work. And we’re stoked to be one of the organisations powering it.
What is ECAN?
ECAN is a global community of employee organisers, campaigners, researchers and allies, building the infrastructure needed to support climate action from the inside out.
Whether you’re forming a green team, organising an internal campaign, or just trying to work out where to start: ECAN is here to help. It’s a place for employees to connect, get support, and build power across companies and continents.
It’s also the natural next step in our mission at WorkforClimate: to make workplace climate action impossible to ignore.
What’s launching today?
🔧 The Employee Resource Hub
A free, filterable library of over 100 practical tools, guides, case studies and legal resources: built by people on the inside, for people on the inside.
✊ Solidarity and legal support
Whether you’re up against blockers or just need to know your rights, ECAN connects employees with legal resources and movement allies.
📣 Media and storytelling tools
Because when employees speak up, the world needs to hear it. ECAN helps amplify employee voices and offers support for confidential whistleblowing.

Why now?
Because employees are already making change happen.
We get to hear about your amazing wins every day; we’ve seen insiders win climate pledges, shift procurement policies and rewrite what leadership looks like.
But too often, they’re isolated, under-supported, or starting from scratch. ECAN exists to change that, and to make sure no one has to go it alone.
As our brilliant teammate and ECAN co-founder Tessa Wernink puts it:
“This is about creating a movement where every employee can find their role, and contribute in their unique way.”
And we couldn’t agree more.
How to get involved
If you’re an employee:
You belong here. No matter your title, team or timezone — if you want to make your workplace part of the climate solution, ECAN is for you.
If you’re an NGO, academic, ally or funder:
Come join us. This is a shared effort, and we’re building it together.
