- Market dominance: Volvo is one of the world’s largest truck makers–XX% market share in Europe, XX% in the US
- Huge climate and health impacts: Diesel trucks are just 3% of vehicles but cause 86% of NOx emissions and 30% of transport CO₂ emissions, contributing to air pollution, premature deaths, and climate change
- Public commitments vs. reality: Volvo has pledged that 50% of its new trucks will be electric by 2030. Yet so far, only 1.7% of trucks delivered are electric–far short of where it needs to be
- Policy pushback: Despite positioning itself as a climate leader, Volvo is part of industry groups lobbying against stronger truck emissions standards in the US and EU
